Hillside S-P-C-A volunteers honored executive director Barbara Umlauf, who recently lost a 2 year battle with cancer.
Over the weekend, the shelter held a pet adoption, encouraging people to sponsor pets in exchange for waived adoption fees.
Barbara served the shelter for more than three decades and was able to expand the animal shelter from just one building, into 5 buildings.
Other proceeds from this weekend will go toward the Carolyn and Joe foundation -- which Barbara started in memory of her son and daughter. It covers the cost of animal medical expenses.
