Two men escaped injury when a tractor-trailer and pickup truck crashed on Interstate 81 on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Republican Herald, State police at Frackville said the crash occurred in the southbound lanes of the highway around mile marker 112.8 in Foster Township about 4:50 p.m. as 54 year oldVincent Dicolla, of Albrightsville, was driving a 2013 Kenworth tractor pulling FedEx tandem trailers in the right lane as 30 year old Robert Zimpfer III, of Hellertown, was driving a pickup truck in the left lane.
As Zimpfer was passing the tractor-trailer, police said, Dicolla entered the left lane and struck the rear of the pickup truck, causing it to exit the right berm of the road and hit several trees before coming to a stop.
The Dicolla truck continued south and entered the median near mile marker 112.7 and then struck an embankment, hit several trees and overturned onto its passenger’s side.
No injuries were reported and police said both vehicles were towed from scene.
