A new VA clinic is bringing state-of-the-art healthcare and is ready to open in Pottsville.
The old United Metal Receptacle building has been transformed into a state-of-the-art facility for veterans in Schuylkill County, bringing the latest in medical equipment and technology to Laurel Boulvard.
Employees moved over to the new center, and about 10 new employees were hired to help at the larger facility.
Veterans will have access to primary care, mental and behavior health, lab work, women's health, radiology, pharmacy services and telehealth services; which allows patients to connect with specialists at other hospitals without traveling.
The new clinic will be fully operational and open to veterans Feb. 8. Until then, walk-ins are welcome.
The Department of Veterans Affairs in Schuylkill County also provides a bus once a week to the Lebanon VA Medical Center.
The previous VA clinics in the county were located in Pottsville and Frackville. Those opened in 1997 but closed last week.
