Hazleton passes budget...
The city of Hazleton has finally approved a budget after months of debate.
The city council approved a ten-point-four million dollar spending package that calls for a nearly 30 percent hike in property taxes.
That translates into about a 130 dollar a year increase for a person who owns a home valued at $100,000.
The budget, however, does not include a controversial plan by the mayor to sell off city assets.
Five police officers will also be hired with the help of a federal grant.
