Police are warning motorists this St. Pattrick’s Day that Buzzed Driving Is Drunk Driving.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration statistics show that during the 2017 St. Patrick’s Day holiday period, more than one-third, or 37 percent, of all motor vehicle crash fatalities involved drunk drivers and that the early hours of March 18 were the most dangerous.
Schuylkill County police and NHTSA are urging drivers to designate a sober driver before heading out for the evening.
Individuals can also download NHTSA’s SaferRide mobile app that is available for Android devices and iPhones. SaferRide allows users to call a taxi or a predetermined friend and identifies the user’s location so he or she can be picked up.
And as always, if you see a drunk driver on the road, contact 911.
