31 year old Ashley Leibig, of Ashland, is headed to state prison after being sentenced for hitting and killing a Northumberland County man in the borough in December 2015.
According to the Republican Herald, Leibig was scheduled to go to trial on Feb. 14, but instead pleaded no contest to accident involving death or personal injury-not properly licensed, driving under the influence with a minor child in her vehicle and reckless driving. By entering the plea, Leibig did not admit to committing the crimes but offered no defense to them.
Ashland police charged Leibig for driving a van that struck and killed 85 year old Walter Bogus, of Coal Township.
Judge Jacqueline L. Russell ruled Leibig must now serve two to four years in a state correctional institution, plus an additional year on probation.
