27 year old Valdez-Torres, of Hazleton, was sentenced to state prison after being found guilty of shooting a man in 2017.
According to the Republican Herald, Tamaqua police charged Valdez-Torres with shooting Jospeh Becker around 2 a.m. Oct. 10, 2017, with a .40-caliber handgun in the backyard of a West Rowe Street residence.
After a one day trial, Torres was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder.
President Judge William E. Baldwin ruled Torres must now serve 26 to 52 years in a state correctional institution.
