The Girardville Saint Patrick's Day Parade has been cancelled. The annual event was originally scheduled for this Saturday.
Parade organizers say the amount of snow, from winter storm Stella, that remains in the borough led them to the decision.
The official word from the Parade Committee states that the 14th Annual AOH Girardville St. Patrick's Day Parade scheduled for Saturday, March 25th, is postponed and is being rescheduled pending permit approvals.
April 8th is one of the alternative dates being discussed but rescheduling hinges on approval of any and all changes in the state and local permits that are necessary to hold an event of this nature.
The Committee apologized for any inconvenience to loyal participants and spectators and say they will meet today to discuss rescheduling the event.
