State Rep. Neal P. Goodman and state Sen. David G. Argall announced on Tuesday that Ashland will receive a $500,000 state grant for safety improvements along Centre Street in the borough’s central business district.
The borough plans to use a portion of the money to install a traffic light with pedestrian controls at Centre and Ninth streets and will replace three blocks of deteriorated sidewalk between Sixth and Ninth streets, along with curbing.
In addition, 14 ramps will be brought up to Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
The project will continue the improvements to the downtown that started several years ago.
