Schuylkill County continues its fight against drug abuse, as the commissioners authorized the Drug & Alcohol Program to apply for a two-year state project meant to help prisoners overcome their addictions.
According to the Republican Herald, the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency 2019 county prison-based vivitrol program project will include a budget of $495,731.80 to help incarcerated people beat their addictions.
Melissa Kalyan of Drug & Alcohol said vivitrol is a non-narcotic and non-addictive injectable substance that can help people for a significant length of time, costing $1,100 per shot.
