An overnight fire severely damaged a home in Gilberton, leaving four people homeless.
Emergency personnel were called out around 2:00am, to 14 Draper Street in Gilberton for a house fire. When crews arrived they found heavy smoke coming from the dwelling.
Two adults and two children were living in the home. All were able to escape safely but fire officials said one of the residents, Edward Kukowski, suffered burns on his hands.
State police fire marshal Trooper John F. Burns arrived at the scene to assist local fire investigators in trying to determine how the fire started. Although no cause had been determined Monday, Burns was concentrating his investigation inside what used to be the kitchen of the home.
