Schuylkill County Commissioners approved a $5 million general obligation note to finance six County public works projects that will now move from planning to reality.
According to the Republican Herald, money received in exchange for the 20-year note to Miners Bank will help to fund the projects which include: Upgrading the courthouse security system, Paving the prison’s parking lot and installing a new roof on the courthouse along with repairing the roof of the courthouse annex, among others.
The costliest, at $2.99 million, is the overhaul of 410 N. Centre St. Those renovations will include creating new offices for Magisterial District Judge James K. Reiley and the county Drug and Alcohol program.
Closing on the transaction is scheduled for May 9.
