A section of the Schuylkill River in Union Township is proving to be dangerous.
Emergency personnel were called for the rescue operation of a kayaker. Fire officials said within minutes, another pair of kayakers fell out in that same spot and a boat would end up getting stuck as well.
They say a total of five people were rescued Tuesday.
There was also a water rescue in the same spot on Sunday. In that rescue, three people were kayaking and had to be treated for injuries.
Fire officials said river conditions were a key factor. Steve Dragon from Birdsboro Union Fire Company said the biggest problem right now is the river is running high and fast from all the rain.
Officials said the other major factor is experience and are urging enthusiasts to take lessons and go out with someone who's experienced before going out on your own.
