Fire ruled accidental...

The cause of a fire that destroyed a home in Shenandoah, Wednesday night, has been ruled accidental.

State police fire marshal Trooper John F. Burns, of the Frackville station, said the fire tore through the home of Mark and Katherine Zucker at 508-510 W. Mount Vernon St. started in the basement of the home and was caused by an electrical shortage.

Fire officials said Mark Zucker was home when the fire started but managed to escape uninjured.

Firefighters from Shenandoah and surrounding communities managed to get the fire under control in about 30 minutes, but not before the double home was destroyed.
