The borough of Girardville will have new and efficient street lighting in the near future.
A program being offered to local municipalities by PPL Electric Utilities Inc., will replace the current incandescent bulbs and replace them with energy-efficient LED lights.
There is no cost to the borough to replace bulbs that are more than 10 years old and according to borough council Vice President Joseph Kessler, the borough has 175 street lights and all lights are at least a decade old.
The application with the resolution will be forwarded to PPL for its review and approval, after which the work will be scheduled.
