The Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center (SARCC) of Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties announced that this year’s award recipient for this year’s Children’s Hero Award is Captain Steven Guers from the Pottsville Police Department.
SARCC is the sole provider of sexual assault services in Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties serving over 1100 men, women and children who have been victimized by sexual violence.
Captain Guers has worked with the Pottsville Bureau of Police Department from 1993 - 2000 as a uniformed patrol officer. In 2000, he became the Liaison Officer to the Pottsville Housing Authority. Since 2003, he has been assigned to investigate, supervise, or assist with numerous investigations focusing on crimes involving sexual assaults. In this capacity he has worked with SARCC with hundreds of victims and their families.
