State police are investigating the Sunday morning death of an infant in Shenandoah.
According to the Republican Herald, authorities were called to the home at 26 S. Grant St. around 6:55 a.m. and found a 5-month-old boy deceased.
Schuylkill County Coroner Dr. David J. Moylan III said a virtual autopsy was performed Sunday night at the Simon Kramer Cancer Institute, New Philadelphia and a forensic autopsy will be performed this afternoon by forensic pathologist Dr. Richard Bindie.
Moylan said his office is working with state police investigators from the Frackville station to determine how the child died and until the autopsies are completed, he would not speak as to the cause and manner of death.
