A fire destroyed a garage and damaged a home in Barry Township Wednesday evening.
It was just before 9:00pm when fire crews were called to a garage fire located at 2 Mabel Road.
According to Skook News, when fire crews arrived, they found the garage fully engulfed and spreading to a nearby home.
A tanker task force was alerted bringing in crews from all over Schuylkill County.
89 year old George Maurer and 84 year old Dolores Maurer live in the home and were able to escape.
Assistant Fire Chief Russ Hummel, of the Lavelle Fire Company, said the cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation.
