Overcrowding continues to be a constant issue at the Schuylkill County Prison, however, county officials say they have reduced the number of inmates and hope to have it at normal capacity by mid-summer.
The facility was constructed to hold 150 inmates, but in recent months, the number has reached just over 300.
The county has transferred 30 inmates to the Delaware County Prison and SCI Muncy, in Lycoming County, to remain in compliance with state regulations.
Schuylkill County officials now say they are talking with nearby counties about the possibility of building a regional prison.
