High Speed Chase...




A Tamaqua man was taken into custody after leading police on a chase through Schuylkill Township Monday night that ended when he slammed into a pool house. 

According to the Republican Herald, the incident began around 9 p.m. when police approached two vehicles parked along Old Route 209. One of the vehicles being driven by 26 year old Corey Whitley sped away at a high rate of speed and refused to stop. 

Whitley’s vehicle wound up striking a pool house near Seneca Street in Tuscarora. 

passenger in Whitley’s vehicle fled into a wooded area. Whitley was taken into custody as he attempted to flee through the driver’s side window. 

Whitley was wanted on several warrants from Schuylkill and Carbon counties. He was committed to Schuylkill County Prison on a warrant from Carbon County and will have to answer to the Schuylkill County warrants as well as to the latest charges, which will be filed with Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon. 

The other vehicle parked on Old Route 209 left the scene. No further information was available on that vehicle and its occupants.
