by News Department on 04/07/178 Teachers to be furloughed...
Eight teachers were notified Thursday they could potentially lose their jobs with the Pottsville Area School District.
According to the Republican Herald, the teachers were notified Thursday afternoon they could potentially be furloughed at the end of the school year due to declining enrollment and curtailment of programs.
The teachers were not identified, but positions include an English, Math and business teacher in the high school along with a middle school industrial arts teacher, two special education teachers and a Spanish teacher and an elementary teacher at John S. Clark Elementary Center.
The district is considering furloughing full-time teachers who, for the most part, have fewer than five years of experience.
