A federal grand jury indicted an illegal immigrant from Mexico, on Wednesday, whom they alleged was found in Schuylkill County after having been deported three times in 2012.
Authorities said 25 year old Gustavo Mulato is being charged with illegal re-entry into the United States.
According to prosecutors, Mulato also has a criminal record from Luzerne County that could result in enhanced penalties if he is convicted of the crime.
U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler alleges Mulato returned to this country after 2012 and was found in the county after eluding examination or inspection by immigration officers.
Hazleton police alleged that Mulato resisted arrest on Sept. 25, 2011, in the city. The conviction for resisting arrest will subject Mulato to the enhanced penalties. Mulato faces a maximum prison sentence of 10 years for the crime.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations investigated the case, which is being prosecutord by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian G. McDonnell.
