More details have emerged after 38 year old Cecil Kutz locked his 22-month-old son in a makeshift wooden cage and left the boy alone with his one year old brother and a sister born hours earlier.
Troopers acting on a tip forced their way into the North Manheim Township home Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the children's 25-year-old mother, Tiffany George, gave birth at the home Tuesday around 9 p.m. She suffered complications and Kutz called an ambulance for her around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. She was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery.
According to police, Kutz said he used the cage as a makeshift crib to keep the toddler safe.
The newborn was taken to a hospital for evaluation. The boys were placed in the custody of child welfare.
Authorities said the home was in deplorable condition. Kutz remained jailed as of Thursday.
