Three people are facing charges after a brief standoff Thursday afternoon.
Patrolman Matthew Williams responded to a disturbance call at 18 East Market Street, in the Village of Sheppton, around 5:20pm and made contact with Juan Rivera-Lugo and his girlfriend, Amanda Rivera.
After confronting the pair, Rivera-Lugo emerged from the residence with a gun and threatened Williams.
Another adult male identified as Manuel Meijia along with Rivera attempted to obstruct Williams from entering the residence which led to Williams using his taser on Rivera to gain her compliance.
Rivera-Lugo remained in an area of the home but could not be seen. Police units from Mahanoy City, Shenandoah, Frackville, Mahanoy Township, and the Pennsylvania State Police from Frackville responded for backup, at which time Rivera and Meija were taken into custody.
Rivera-Lugo was taken into custody without further incident and committed to Schuylkill County Prison on $50,000 straight cash bail by Magisterial District Judge Plachko.
