Faulty cards...

A few voters had to use paper ballots in Tuesday’s primary election.

According to the Republican Herald, Schuylkill County Election Bureau Director Frannie Brennan said some of the cards given to voters to plug into the electronic voting machines and call up the ballot were not programmed properly, making voters unable to use the machines. She said the problem occurred in West Brunswick Township, New Ringgold, Wayne Township and Ashland.

Voters were asked to fill out paper emergency ballots. Meanwhile, the election bureau sent workers called rovers to the locations with new cards.

Brennan said the emergency ballots would be counted immediately, unlike provisional ballots which take a few days to verify.
