The Hazleton Police Department has a new weapon in the war on crime.
The city launched a Motorcycle Unit yesterday, and now has two motorcycles, which were purchased with donations from the community.
Every officer can become a member of the motorcycle patrol after they undergo specialized training.
Hazleton’s Chief says the department plans to use the new motorcycle unit in its “Operation Cease Fire” initiative, which calls for an overwhelming show of force when any shooting takes place in the city.
