Saturday is the 27th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. The drive is the largest one-day food collection in the nation.
According to the Republican Herald, the National Association of Letter Carriers collects nonperishable food each year to distribute to food banks. Residents are asked to leave non-perishable food by their mailbox for carriers to collect.
Post offices in Pottsville, Schuylkill Haven, Port Carbon, Cressona, New Philadelphia, Orwigsburg, Shenandoah, Saint Clair, Frackville and New Ringgold are participating and the food collected in the county is distributed locally.
