The driver of a tractor-trailer escaped without injury when the vehicle rolled down an embankment just before noon Tuesday.
The Republican Herald reports that the crash happened along the northbound lane of Route 61, just south of Route 895, near the Little Schuylkill River, in West Brunswick Township when Paul Breiner, of Andreas, was driving the tractor truck north on Route 61 when, for unknown reasons, it began to drift off the roadway and hit the guide rail.
State Police at Schuylkill Haven said the vehicle continued hitting the bridge, riding alongside it for about 200 feet, then drove alongside a second guide rail after the bridge turning over on its right side and rolling down an embankment.
The tractor-trailer was hauling nearly 80,000 pounds of gravel and stone.
Breiner was able to escape the vehicle and was not injured.
Police said he will be charged with a summary traffic citation.
