Saint Clair Councilman John Houseknecht is being charged for damaging a car.
Police said there have been about a dozen car keying incidents reported in the 100 block of north Third Street in the past year.
On June 7th, video captured Houseknecht turning toward a parked car and making a swiping motion with his right arm along the passenger side of the door.
Authorities say Houseknecht has not admitted to scratching the car or any of the other cars vandalized in that neighborhood and police cannot link him to those other acts of vandalism because there is currently no evidence.
The borough declined to comment on the situation with Houseknecht, who was elected to hold his position until 2022.
