23 year old Matthew R. Taylor and 20 year old Kelcie Fitzpatrick, both of Port Carbon, were jailed on drug charges Thursday, the result of a two-month investigation of the sale of illegal narcotics by Port Carbon police and the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.
According to the Republican Herald, Port Carbon Police Chief Joseph Ferraro said that officers and task force agents executed a search warrant at the pair’s apartment about 11:15 a.m., which netted 22 grams of heroin with a street value of about $8,000 along with methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Additional charges are also pending for firearms violations after officers found a loaded handgun inside the apartment.
The two were arraigned by Magisterial District Judge David A. Plachko, Port Carbon, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison.
Both Taylor and Fitzpatrick will now have to answer to the charges against them at a preliminary hearing before Plachko in his Port Carbon courtroom at a later date.
