by News Department on 07/21/15Pottsville officials are trying to figure out who dumped more than 100 pounds of material on Sharp Mountain.
City Administrator Thomas A. Palamar said the material looks to be a collection of hand-painted stage play sets.
The discarded material was discovered two weeks ago by truck drivers working on the city’s Sharp Mountain Reclamation Project. Placed along the dirt road near an earth mover, the pile of backdrops included panels painted to look like stone walls, a bookshelf, a doorway and fireplace and a cityscape.
Dan E. Kelly, city superintendent of streets believed the litterbugs gained access to the mountain through the switchback dirt road just off the Gordon Nagle Trail but could not be certain.
Anyone with information is asked to call the City Administrator’s office.
