State police confirmed Saturday, that a Schuylkill Township man being sought by state police was found dead Friday of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to authorities, the body of 54 year old Joseph D. Hartranft, of Newkirk, was found not far from his home on Friday at about 8:30 p.m.
The search for Hartranft began when State police at Frackville went to the trailer he was living in at about 4 p.m. Tuesday to serve him an eviction notice.
He fled from his home into the woods, carrying a long gun.
