by News Department on 07/29/15Mount Carbon Mayor, 32 year old Jeffrey J. Dunkel is headed to Schuylkill County Court after waiving his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday on a charge that he harassed a woman by sending her “lewd” and “threatening” emails.
According to the Republican Herald, Orwigsburg police alleged Dunkel sent several harassing emails in May to a borough woman. Police said the woman, in response to Dunkel’s messages, specifically told him, as did police, to stop sending them to her. However, after those warnings, Dunkel sent additional emails to the woman on May 20 and May 22.
Charges were bound over for court by Magisterial District Judge James R. Ferrier and Dunkel was freed on $1,000 unsecured bail, pending future court action.
On July 14, Dunkel presented a letter of resignation to Mount Carbon borough council, effective at the end of the year, in order to take advantage of a business opportunity in another state.
