More than 20 blighted properties in Schuylkill County have been added to the list of demolition projects.
The county commissioners on Wednesday approved cooperation agreements with Ashland, Butler Township, Palo Alto, Shenandoah, Mahanoy City and Pottsville for demolition projects which will eventually go out for bid and be awarded during a commissioner’s public meeting.
The project is being funded by a $1.4 million grant the state Department of Community and Economic Development awarded the county in January.
County Administrator Gary Bender had said the grant may cover up to 70 demolition projects. Municipalities had to submit projects to the county to use the funding.
As of Wednesday, the county has encumbered about $350,000 of the grant for projects in about 10 municipalities.
