28 year old Jose Fernando Montalban-Rodriguez, of Minersville, was sentenced to state prison after prosecutors said he sexually molested a boy in March 2016 in Minersville.
Borough police charged the defendant with sexually assaulting a 3-year-old boy on March 1, 2016. Montalban-Rodriguez pleaded no contest on Feb. 15 to two sex-related crimes.
President Judge William E. Baldwin sentenced him to serve 18 to 36 months in a state correctional institution and additionally ruled, in accordance with the recommendation of the state Sexual Offenders Assessment Board, that Montalban-Rodriguez is a sexually violent predator and, therefore, subject to lifetime Megan’s Law sanctions once he leaves prison.
The defendant has started serving his prison term at State Correctional Institution/Camp Hill in Cumberland County.
