Judge rules building to be sold...

Schuylkill County Judge, Cyrus Palmer Dolbin, at a hearing on Monday, said the Schuylkill Trust Co. building in downtown Pottsville can be sold at a judicial sale.

According to the Republican Herald, , the Schuylkill County Tax Claim Bureau requested to sell the property at 101 N. Centre St., Pottsville, earlier this year, at a judicial sale, at which time the building can be sold without the burden of claims, mortgages, liens and back taxes.

The owner of the building, James J. Curran Jr., an attorney and president of Schuylkill Land & Realty Inc., Pottsville, was not present.

The $104,065.21 in back taxes owed and $686,501.78 in liens on the property will be dropped.

The building was one of 81 properties the judge approved for judicial sale Monday afternoon.

The bidding on the property could start at $1,000 at the sale, which will be held Oct. 6, at 10 a.m., at the Schuylkill County Courthouse.
