The Pottsville Area School District has approved the proposed drug policy that it considering adopting, in July.
According to the Republican Herald, beginning Aug. 27, the first day of school, students in grades 7 to 12 who participate in extracurricular activities or who have parking privileges must be drug tested. Parents may also volunteer to have their student tested as part of the proposed policy.
Superintendent Jeffrey S. Zwiebel said the adoption of the drug policy is the next logical step in trying to keep kids as safe as possible.
As of Wednesday, no members of the public objected to the adoption of the drug policy.
