Regional Police...

Three Schuylkill County municipalities plan to study the feasibility of forming a regional police force.

According to the Republican Herald, Pine Grove Borough, Pine Grove Township and Tremont Township representatives signed an agreement to get the study underway with the State Department of Community and Economic Development in Harrisburg.

If the parties choose to establish a regional force, there would be a commission formed that would include a representative from each of the respective municipalities, and that commission would draft budgets, and do the hiring and firing of police on the force.

The study, which DCED’s center will pay for, along with a consultant, up to 100 hours, should be completed in a few months.
