Most serious charge dropped...

A Tamaqua man was convicted of several charges against him by a Schuylkill County jury.

According to the Republican Herald, the charges against 24 year old Charles D. Heffelfinger Jr., stem from a February 2017 incident in Tamaqua, when he shot Gary Reidel. The jury found him guilty of seven of eight charges against him, but found him not guilty of the most serious charge; attempted first-degree murder.

President Judge William E. Baldwin said he would schedule sentencing at a later date and increased Heffelfinger’s bail to $100,000 straight cash. Heffelfinger then returned to prison.
