Three homes were damaged by fire Thursday afternoon in Ashland. Just after 1:00pm, fire fighters were called to 402 Centre Street for a working structure fire.
When crews arrived they quickly upgraded the fire to a 2nd alarm. Although the fire was contained mainly to the Locke home, the fire damaged a home at 400 W. Centre St. and a home at 404-406 W. Centre St., owned and occupied by Ashland Fire Chief Phillip Groody.
No injuries were reported, but one fire fighter was treated at the scene for chest pains.
Numerous fire crews from Schuylkill and Northumberland Counties responded to the scene, as well as the American Red Cross to help the victims.
Early reports state that the fire originated in the second floor front room of the 402 Center St. home and state police fire marshal Trooper John Burns of the Frackville station is investigating to determine exactly what sparked the blaze.
