State police and the Schuylkill County Coroner’s Office are continuing their investigation into skeletal remains found in an area of Mahanoy Township on Monday.
According to the Republican Herald, the remains were discovered in a wooded area of Schuylkill Energy Resources land off of Route 54, just outside the Village of Yatesville.
Authorities conducted searches of the area Monday and again on Tuesday but no other skeletal remains were found.
Schuylkill County Coroner Dr. David J. Moylan III said Dr. Dennis Dirkmaat, a professor in applied forensic sciences, at Mercyhurst University, Erie, has been contacted and will assist in the investigation.
