Pennsylvania's newest attorney general is from Lackawanna County. The state senate confirmed the nomination of Bruce Beemer Tuesday afternoon by a vote of 44-0.
Governor Wolf nominated Beemer to replace Acting Attorney General Bruce Castor, who took office two weeks ago after Kathleen Kane resigned. Kane was found guilty of leaking secret grand jury information and then lying to cover it up.
Beemer, who was Kane's first deputy before leaving that office in July, testified against the former Attorney General at her trial.
He will serve out Kathleen Kane's term until January.
