The Polish American Fire Company No.4, in Shenandoah, has the honor of hosting the 61st annual Schuylkill County Firefighters Convention beginning Sunday.

According to the Republican Herald, the fire company will celebrate its 100th anniversary this year, receiving its charter from the Schuylkill County Court of Common Pleas on May 13, 1915.

It is the first and only Polish American fire company in the United States.

The convention will run through the week, with the grand finale being the parade through the streets of Shenandoah, featuring more than 200 pieces of fire, EMS, antique and other emergency apparatus, 10 bands and community organizations from Shenandoah and Schuylkill and surrounding counties.
