Attorneys for Gillingham Charter School, in Pottsville, will continue work to pursue the school’s second five-year charter.
According to the Republican Herald, representatives from Gillingham are scheduled to meet with Sandra W. Stoner, the hearing officer appointed by the Pennsylvania Charter Appeal Board, Harrisburg, on Monday.
Nicolle M. Hutchinson, the school’s CEO and director of education, told the Gillingham board of trustees that the CAB accepted the school’s petition to appeal at the board’s September meeting.
Since the Gillingham Charter School Collaborative worked to establish the charter school in 2010 and 2011, Pottsville Area opposed the idea.
The Pottsville Area school board rejected Gillingham’s proposal for a second five-year charter on Dec. 2 and July 6. Gillingham filed its appeal on Aug. 4.
