The Gillingham Charter School won their appeal, Tuesday, before the State Charter Appeals Board, in Harrisburg, and had their charter renewed for 5 more years.
Nicolle Hutchinson, CEO and Director of Education at Gillingham said by law charter schools are required to apply for renewal every five years, and Gillingham is hoping that the Pottsville Area School District will not turn this into a two year process every five years.
Tuesday's decision came after Gillingham had made their official appeal heard before the board in late July.
Back in 2015, the Pottsville Area School Board rejected Gillingham Charter School's application for a second five-year charter.
