A body was discovered Tuesday afternoon in the City of Shamokin, Northumberland County.
Authorities said the body was discovered by a teenager walking along a trail in the woods behind the 200 block of South Rock Street, near Shamokin Creek.
Neighbors said they heard what sounded like a gunshot at about 1:30 p.m., however, that has not been confirmed.
City police, the county coroner and other authorities were still at the scene as of 4 p.m.
There is no word yet as to what may have happened to the deceased, who is male.
