Students sent home from school...

More than 100 students in Schuylkill County were forced to stay home Tuesday because they weren’t in compliance with the state Department of Health’s new immunization requirements.

According to the Republican Herald, Mahanoy Area Superintendent Joie L. Green said, “the students failed to provide medical plans signed by their health care providers, and that resulted in exclusion from school.”

The new vaccination requirements were put in place by the Department of Health to protect students from contracting meningitis.

More information on the new regulations can be found on the DOH website, www.dontwaitvaccinate.pa.gov.
