Rig crashes...
by News Department on 06/16/15A Florida truck driver escaped serious injury when the rig he was driving crashed Monday morning in Cass Township.
According to the Republican Herald, state police Trooper Brian Walters of the Frackville station said the crash occurred about 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of Route 4007, Highridge Road, and Valley Road when 37 year old Jesus A. Almaguer was driving a 2000 Freightliner south on Highridge Road descending a steep incline when he approached the intersection with Valley Road and was unable to stop at the intersection.
The truck went through the intersection, crossed Valley Road and continued through a guide rail, then entered a wooded area, rolled onto its passenger’s side and came to a stop.
The truck’s cargo, watermelons, was dumped into a wooded area along Valley Road. Almaguer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
