Bicyclist injured...

A bicyclist riding across the country who recently stopped in Pottsville was injured Wednesday in Nesquehoning.

According to the Republican Herald, 50 year old Brent Bundy is biking from Oregon to Staten Island, New York, to raise awareness for breast cancer. Bundy stopped in Pottsville over the weekend as he was making a trip to Hazleton after visiting Harrisburg.

Bundy told police he was biking north on Route 209 about 1 mile before the Route 209 and Route 93 intersection “when ice dislodged from a vehicle that was traveling north that hit him in the shoulder.”

Bundy was taken to a local hospital for treatment and discharged a short time later.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Nesquehoning police at 570-669-9111.
