Former Schuylkill County Coroner Joseph Lipsett will become Rush Township’s police chief.
Lipsett was approved by the township supervisors as head of the Rush Township Police Department on Tuesday and will start in his new position Jan. 9, with an annual salary of $65,000.
Lipsett is a retired state trooper with 31 years’ experience. He also served one term as county coroner and worked for the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s office.
He is the department’s only full-time officer.
